It causes a systemic viral infection, meaning the virus spreads throughout the entire vascular system of the host plant, significantly disrupting physiological processes and hindering normal growth and development.

Host range: The primary host of this virus is Telfairia occidentalis, commonly known as fluted pumpkin, which is a vital crop in tropical regions. While it is specialized for this host, research indicates that it can potentially infect other members of the Cucurbitaceae family, posing a risk to diverse vegetable farming operations if not managed properly.

Symptoms and signs of infection: The clinical signs of the disease are characterized by distinct mosaic patterns on leaves, ranging from light green to yellow mottling.
