Yipleionis mosaic virus (Potyvirus yipleionis) is a destructive plant pathogen belonging to the Potyvirus genus. This virus causes systemic infections in host plants by disrupting metabolic pathways and cellular functions, leading to significant physiological stress and stunted growth patterns.

The virus primarily affects crops belonging to the Solanaceae family, with particular emphasis on tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants. Given its potential to spread rapidly, it poses a severe threat to commercial horticulture, often resulting in heavy economic losses due to reduced fruit quality and yield depression.

Characteristic symptoms include distinct mosaic patterns on leaves, interveinal chlorosis, and severe leaf deformation or curling. Affected plants typically exhibit reduced vigor, shortened internodes, and altered morphology. Fruit set may be reduced, and those that do develop often show discoloration or structural abnormalities.

Transmission occurs mainly through aphid vectors, which acquire the virus in a non-persistent manner. This means the virus can be transmitted after very brief feeding periods on infected tissues.
