Soybean necrosis virus, scientifically identified as Sobemovirus cnmov, is a serious plant pathogen that induces systemic viral diseases primarily affecting leguminous crops. Belonging to the Sobemovirus genus, this virus is characterized by a single-stranded RNA genome protected by an icosahedral capsid, which contributes to its stability and resilience in various environments.
The host range of this virus focuses predominantly on soybeans, though it can impact other legume species within the field environment. As a systemic disease, the pathogen invades the vascular system of the host plant, effectively spreading throughout the plant tissue and hindering its physiological and metabolic processes.
