Temfrudevirus temperatum is a viral pathogen belonging to a group of infectious agents that affect a wide range of herbaceous and woody crops. The pathogen is classified as an obligate parasite capable of rapid replication within plant cells, which leads to the disruption of metabolic processes and inhibits the overall development of the host organism.

This virus primarily affects vegetable crops, berry shrubs, and several ornamental plants. The most susceptible species are those in the Solanaceae and Rosaceae families, in which the pathogen causes systemic tissue damage, significantly complicating efforts to control the spread of the disease under intensive farming conditions.

Key symptoms of the infection include chlorotic spots on the leaves, mosaic patterns, leaf curling, and general shoot deformation. The primary vectors of infection are sucking insects (such as aphids and thrips) and mechanical transmission through garden tools during pruning, making prevention a key factor in containing epidemics in home gardens and commercial farms.

Effective protection relies on a comprehensive approach, including the use of virus-free planting material and the eradication of insect vectors. It is recommended to maintain spatial isolation between planting rows, regularly disinfect garden tools with sodium hypochlorite or alcohol solutions, and remove and destroy infected plants to prevent secondary contamination of healthy crops.
