Topocuvirus solani is a plant viral disease caused by a virus belonging to the genus Topocuvirus within the Geminiviridae family. As a viral pathogen, it systemically infects host plants, primarily targeting the vascular tissues, which disrupts essential transport and metabolic pathways required for healthy plant development.

The host range of this virus is primarily restricted to plants within the Solanaceae family. Economically significant crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers are highly susceptible. Furthermore, wild solanaceous weeds serve as significant reservoirs for the virus, allowing the pathogen to overwinter and re-emerge in cropping systems annually.

Symptomatology of infected plants often includes chlorotic mosaic patterns on the foliage, leaf curling, and severe dwarfing. In many instances, the leaves may show distorted veins or puckering. These physiological changes significantly impair photosynthesis, which ultimately results in stunted growth, aborted blossoms, and a dramatic reduction in both the size and quality of the yield.

The transmission of the virus is predominantly mediated by insect vectors, most notably the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci).
