Voandzeia mosaic virus, formally classified as Tymovirus voandzeiae, is a viral pathogen belonging to the Tymovirus genus. This virus acts as an intracellular parasite, disrupting the normal physiological and metabolic processes of host plants, which leads to stunted growth and reduced crop yields in agricultural settings.

The primary host for this virus is the Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea). While it shows a high degree of specialization to this legume, its potential to spread among other related fabaceous plants requires vigilance, especially in regions where these crops are intensive agricultural staples.

Typical symptoms of infection include systemic mosaic patterns on leaves, characterized by chlorotic patches or mottling. Affected plants often exhibit leaf malformations, curling, and overall dwarfing. The reduction in photosynthetic area significantly impacts the plant's ability to fill pods, resulting in lower quality and quantity of harvested produce.
