Description
The 'Sylvan 130 Two-spored Champignon' mushroom block is a substrate packet inoculated with the mother culture of the champignon mushroom. The packet size is 50 × 40 × 20 cm, and its mass is approximately 15 kg. The Sylvan 130 strain belongs to the medium hybrid varieties and is distinguished by high flexibility: it can form fruit bodies of various sizes, while the cap remains round with a surface ranging from smooth to slightly rough.
The block quickly colonizes the compost, which reduces the period from applying the casing layer to harvest. Under optimal cultivation conditions, it demonstrates high yield and hardiness: within 2–3 weeks after sowing, the mycelium fully covers the inside of the packet, after which the top part of the polyethylene is cut off to create a 'box' for further growth. Then, a casing layer (soil or neutral acid pH 6–8 peat) 2–4 cm thick is added and watered by spraying.
An important stage is cold shock: reducing the temperature to 13–15 °C accelerates fruit body formation. The harvest comes in waves, with each subsequent wave smaller than the previous one, but the total mushroom yield from one block can reach up to 10 kg (average 7–8 kg). The champignon is suitable for both fresh consumption and canning. It is excellent for cultivation in bags, blocks, and on shelves, providing ease of growing and stable results.
