The Pure Seed Testing research center (USA) developed Jackrabbit to address the primary challenges of professional turf management: maintaining visual aesthetics under extreme wear and minimizing maintenance. The core of this variety is genetic selection focused on building a dense turf canopy with superior recovery kinetics.

Biological markers and resilience

A key feature of Jackrabbit is its aggressive root development strategy. Due to its rapid rhizome growth, this bluegrass forms a monolithic sod that effectively suppresses weed encroachment during the early vegetation stages. The deep dark green pigment of the leaves is retained even at low temperatures, a result of elevated chlorophyll content within the leaf blades.

Phytosanitary profile

The variety demonstrates exceptional resistance to powdery mildew, a disease that frequently compromises dense turf stands in shaded areas or locations with poor air circulation. The Pure Seed Testing breeding program eliminates the need for frequent fungicide applications, reducing the environmental footprint of the site. To achieve a high-density turf, it is recommended to adhere to a seeding rate of 10–25 g/m².
