PANACEA

PANACEA – an annual medicinal decorative plant up to 1.2 m tall with straight stems and light-green leaves. Purple flower-heads at the tops of the stems, 3–6 cm in diameter, add a bright color accent to the bush.

This type of milk thistle is rich in vitamins and minerals – it contains about 200 biochemical substances, including copper, selenium, and silymarin. Thanks to these properties, the plant is widely used in folk medicine for cardiovascular system diseases, liver, gastrointestinal tract, ear, throat, nose, and especially skin conditions.

PANACEA is valued for its harmlessness: its seeds are added to beverages and confectionery. For growing, seeds are sown in mid-April, with plants spaced 20–40 cm apart. Seeds can be sown directly in the ground or in containers on a balcony. After germination, the plant blooms within 45–50 days, and harvesting medicinal seeds is possible about 110–120 days after the start of growth.
