Description
The YUTA variety of celery is a mid-season stalk variety with a vegetative period of 160 to 180 days from seedling to harvest. The plant reaches a height of 60-65 cm, has a vertical rosette of leaves and long dark green stalks, curved on the inside and practically fiberless. This variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching up to 3.5 kg per square meter, as well as excellent taste qualities and long-term preservation of marketable appearance after harvest.
Sowing for seedlings is recommended from early February to March, with a sowing depth of about 0.5 cm and a sowing rate of 1-1.5 g per square meter. Seedlings are transplanted to open ground at an age of 50-60 days, when 5-6 leaves have formed on the plants, usually at the end of May - early June. It is important to note that YUTA celery seedlings do not tolerate frost, and the distance between plants should be about 15 cm, between rows - 45 cm.
Successful cultivation of the YUTA variety requires fertile and moist soils, as the plant develops poorly on acidic and heavy soils. It is recommended to add fresh manure and regularly fertilize with mineral and liquid organic fertilizers, which promotes slow growth and ensures a high yield. YUTA celery is widely used both in fresh form and for processing, thanks to its high aroma and excellent taste characteristics.
