Description
Giove F1 salad chicory is an early head type Radicchio variety developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. This hybrid is intended for cultivation in open ground from mid-spring to early autumn, with a harvest period from seedling transplanting to harvest lasting 80-90 days. The plant forms conical heads 21-23 cm long with medium density, whose leaves are dark red with prominently visible white veins. The leaves are succulent and have a pleasant taste with a slight bitterness, making them ideal for fresh consumption, especially in salad mixes.
Giove F1 is distinguished by high resistance to shot-hole disease, leaf edge burn, and glassiness, ensuring prolonged maintenance of the marketable appearance of the harvest. The heads do not crack and can remain in the field on the roots for a long time without loss of quality, and also withstand transport well to storage locations. The hybrid adapts to various soil types and positively responds to regulated watering and fertilization, making it versatile for different cultivation conditions.
In addition, the variety is fully resistant to powdery mildew and green leaf aphid, significantly reducing disease risks and enhancing harvest stability. The head shape is attractive, the structure is not overly dense, yet maintains high marketability even at compact to medium sizes. These characteristics make Giove F1 an excellent choice for year-round cultivation and obtaining a quality product with an appealing appearance and good taste.
