Description
Gymaden 'Grey Ural' – a perennial herbaceous plant from the grass family, reaching heights of 100 to 130 cm. Leaves have a grey-blue tint, are stiff and flat, directed vertically upwards, giving the plant an elegant profile. Stems are bluish, thick, and the rhizome is deep and creeping, providing resistance to adverse conditions.
Ears are spikelet-like, fluffy and dense, up to 25 cm long and 3 cm wide. Inflorescences are greenish in early summer, gradually changing to brown by the end of the season and persisting until autumn, creating an interesting decorative effect. The plant is frost-hardy, requires no special care conditions, and grows well on poor, loose sandy soils, as well as adapting to heavier clay soils.
For planting, sunny places with moderately moist but well-drained soils are recommended. When preparing the substrate, a mixture of topsoil, peat, and sand in a ratio of 1:2:2 can be used. The plant is easily grown from seeds and self-seeds in the garden, is not susceptible to diseases and pests. 'Grey Ural' is suitable for both group plantings and individual compositions in lawns, flower beds, or natural masses, giving the landscape a natural but expressive look.
