Description
Cosmos "Orange Mood" is an annual plant growing 30–70 cm tall, which catches the eye with bright double flower heads measuring 4–8 cm in diameter and a rich orange hue. The petals form dense heads, while the stems are branched and upright, giving the bush an airy appearance. Flowering begins in June and continues until the first frosts, providing vibrant garden or flower bed coverage throughout the summer.
For growing cosmos, it is recommended to sow seeds in spring – in April–May (or in March when preparing seedlings) – into open ground. Seeds are lightly covered with soil, and plants are planted in sunny locations with a spacing of 20–30 cm between them to ensure adequate lighting and air circulation. With proper care, including moderate watering and removal of dried buds, the plant displays abundant flowering.
Cosmos is widely used in landscape design: it can be planted in groups to create raabiettes, mixed borders, or alpine slides, and also used as a backdrop in flower beds and hedges. Thanks to its soil tolerance (any type suitable, weakly acidic or neutral) and disease resistance, it easily fits into various garden design styles. The flowers are also excellent for cutting – they retain their brightness and scent in a vase, adding a summer touch to the interior.
