Description

Nikita aromatic feijoa – a self-fertile variety characterized by high aroma content and taste qualities reminiscent of a blend of pineapple, strawberry, and guava. Fruits reach 60 g, have a length of up to 6–7 cm and a diameter of up to 4 cm, while the mass usually ranges from 10 to 50 g. They possess tender jelly-like pulp, a sweet taste with a slight tartness, and a rich tropical fruit aroma. The variety matures quickly – the first berries appear in the first decade of October, and yield can reach 20–25 kg per tree.

Nikita aromatic feijoa grows up to 2.5 m in height and 2 m in width, is easily shaped in both open ground and containers. For home growing, a pot with a diameter of 15–20 cm with drainage holes is recommended; substrate – azalea mix. The plant prefers sunny locations or light shade, but with proper care, it can grow in cooler conditions as well. Watering is carried out when the top 1 cm of soil dries out, and daily spraying helps maintain leaf moisture.

Care for Nikita aromatic feijoa is simple: the plant is self-fertile, but to increase yield, several bushes can be planted. The variety is resistant to most diseases and pests, although phytophthora and root rot may appear with overwatering. Regular watering, good ventilation, and moderate fertilization are key factors for plant health. During flowering (May–June), temperature should be 21–24 °C, and in winter no lower than 10 °C for container specimens. After harvest, fruits can be eaten fresh, used in sauces, smoothies, canning, freezing, or drying; they keep for up to 7 days at room temperature and several months in the refrigerator with sugar.

Thus, Nikita aromatic feijoa is a versatile plant that combines decorative appeal, ease of cultivation, and a rich array of beneficial substances, including vitamins C, B, E, iodine, and iron. It can be used both in garden plots and at home, providing delicious berries starting from the 4th year after planting.
