Description
The Ermakovskaya Fir is a hybrid variety obtained at the Ivaneevo nursery of VNIILM in 1952 by crossing the Siberian fir with the Veitch fir. The tree reaches a height of up to 15 meters, the crown projection is up to 6 meters, and the trunk diameter can reach 30 cm. The trunk is straight, the bark is smooth and dark gray with characteristic white streaks on the underside of the branches.
The foliage of the Ermakovskaya Fir is dark green, glossy, and smooth, giving the tree an ornamental appearance. The tree grows quickly, has good frost and drought resistance, and low susceptibility to smoke gases. Due to these properties, it is often used in plantation cultivation for producing wood suitable for the pulp and paper industry.
Seeds of the Ermakovskaya Fir are used in forestry and horticulture as material for planting new trees. The seeds contain a significant amount of fatty oils suitable for varnish production, and the bark can be used in the extraction of balsam. The tree is also known for its ability to withstand severe frosts and cold climates, making it a valuable ornamental tree for temperate regions.
