Forte MD series walk-behind tractors belong to the heavy-duty agricultural machinery class, designed for professional tillage on plots ranging from 0.5 to 2 hectares. Structurally, they are built on a frame-based chassis with a water-cooled engine, making them functionally similar to mini-tractors. This product line is engineered for high-energy tasks: breaking virgin soil, tilling heavy clay soils, inter-row cultivation, and transporting loads weighing up to 500-700 kg.

Engine and Transmission

At the heart of the machine is a single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine with power ratings from 8 to 12 horsepower, depending on the model index. The forced water-cooling system (radiator type) allows the unit to operate under prolonged peak loads during summer heat without the risk of overheating. The transmission is coupled via a multi-disk clutch immersed in an oil bath, providing smooth operation and extended durability under intense shifting conditions.

Drive and Undercarriage

The gearbox features a (3+1)x2 configuration, totaling 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds, divided into high and low ranges. This allows the operator to select the optimal pulling force for specific operations: from slow, high-torque plowing to high-speed transport with a trailer. While a mechanical differential lock is not standard, independent wheel unlocking is achieved via levers on the handlebar, ensuring exceptional maneuverability in tight corners.

Hydraulics and Attachment

A key feature of the Forte MD is the Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft and a reinforced attachment system. The hydraulic system with a floating mode allows for precise ground contour following when operating active tillers, mowers, or snow blowers. The universal hitch makes the unit compatible with most standard attachments, including potato planters, hillers, and active tillers, which are often included in the delivery set.

Application in Agricultural Operations

The primary use case is intensive soil preparation. With a rotary tiller width of up to 1000 mm, the tractor effectively shreds sod to a depth of 20 cm. When using a plow, the unit maintains excellent furrow stability due to its significant curb weight and low center of gravity. In transport mode with a trailer, the machine demonstrates pulling capabilities comparable to entry-level tractors.

Maintenance and Reliability

The design of these tractors is simplified for field-expedient repairs. Access to major components—the clutch, belt drive, and fuel system—is unhindered without the need to dismantle the main chassis panels. Forte engines are known for high longevity (up to 3000 hours before overhaul), provided that the oil (SAE 10W-40) is changed on schedule and the oil-bath air filter is cleaned. The cast-iron gearbox housing is resistant to mechanical damage and high vibration stress.
