Systemic internal protection: working with Aliette

When it comes to controlling downy mildew and root rots, I prefer to rely on a proven systemic tool from Bayer rather than taking chances with the harvest. Aliette is a case where the active ingredient (fosetyl-aluminum) doesn't just sit on the surface; it moves throughout the entire plant, including new growth and the root system. Field operational notes

The product comes as a wettable powder. I'll note immediately that it mixes well in the spray tank and does not clog the nozzles, which is critical during high-volume operations.

• Flexible application rates: Depending on the crop and disease pressure, I use rates ranging from 1.0 to 4.0 kg/ha. This allows me to tailor the protection strategy to a specific field rather than following a rigid template.
• Protection schedule: Up to 3 treatments per season are permitted. Given its systemic action, this is sufficient to cover the critical growth stages for onions or cucumbers.
• Pre-harvest interval: The 30-day interval requires careful planning of the spraying schedule, but the result is worth it—vegetables and berries remain free from infections.

Why keep it in your inventory?

The main advantage is the combination of preventive and curative properties. I use it not only for treatment but also as an immune stimulant against late blight. This is German quality that proves its worth when wet weather creates the perfect conditions for fungal diseases to thrive. While the 3rd hazard class requires standard safety precautions, the product is predictable and stable in the field.
