A Japanese systemic seed treatment that drastically reduces the risk of seedling loss due to root rots.
Description
Engineering approach to seedling protection
At the core of Tachigaren by Mitsui Chemicals Agro lies the hymexazol molecule (a member of the acetamides and oxazolidine derivatives group). Unlike conventional surface-acting fungicides, this composition operates as a systemic agent with a pronounced physiological effect. Upon entering the soil, the active ingredient quickly dissolves in soil moisture, creating a protective barrier around the germinating beet seed.
Systemic mechanism of action
The key feature of Tachigaren is its ability to translocate through the plant's xylem. Once absorbed by the roots, hymexazol moves into the aerial part of the seedling, halting the development of pathogens from within. This is critical in combating Oomycetes fungi (Pythium, Aphanomyces), which cause "black leg" and root rots—conditions against which standard seed treatments are often ineffective.
Practical application aspects
- Targeted efficacy: The product blocks the metabolism of pathogens responsible for phoma and root rot complexes, enabling maximum, uniform emergence even in cold or waterlogged soil conditions.
- Stimulatory effect: In addition to fungicidal activity, the active ingredient promotes the development of a more robust root system, enhancing the beet's adaptability to stress factors during early growth stages.
- Dosage and regulation: To achieve the desired effect, the application rate is at least 4.0 L/t. The product is formulated as a wettable powder, requiring strict adherence to preparation protocols to ensure uniform coverage of the seed material.
Given its Hazard Class 3 rating, strict adherence to application guidelines is mandatory. A single treatment provides protection during the critical emergence phase, laying the foundation for the future forage beet harvest.
