NUGUSH

Iris «NUGUSH» – a hybrid variety from the Tall Bearded group, created in 2008 by originator Keith Keppel and registered in 2010 by the Botanical Garden-Institute of the Ufa Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The plant reaches a height of about one meter, and flower spikes approximately 45–100 cm long bear several inflorescences with a diameter of 13 to 20 cm. The petals are wide, long, and rounded with wavy edges; the coloration is two-toned: upper segments are mustard-violet with pleated patterns, lower ones are mustard-yellow with a characteristic yellow spot. The beard is bright orange, adding expressiveness to the color.

Flowers «NUGUSH» possess a strong aroma and stable coloration: they do not fade even after prolonged vase life – up to five days. The flowering period is about 12 days, starting in early June. The variety demonstrates medium resistance to heterosporiosis, winter hardiness, and heat tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in the central part of Russia as well as in warmer regions.

Iris «NUGUSH» is excellent for greening parks, squares, roadside areas, flower beds, groups, masses, and borders. Thanks to its high decorative value and vase stability, it is often used in landscape design as part of a living hedge or at the edge of a lawn, where it contrasts against the green grass.
