Description
Lavandin "RABAT" is an evergreen shrub up to 120 cm tall, belonging to the Lamiaceae family. The plant is characterized by compact growth: on average, bushes reach 85–100 cm in height and 90–105 cm in width, making it ideal for garden plots and garden compositions. The leaves are dark green, elongated-lanceolate, 7–10 cm long, and the inflorescences are dense purple, reaching 9–11 cm and containing up to 250 flowers per inflorescence. The flowering period lasts 25–30 days.
The "RABAT" variety differs in high raw material yield – from 100.6 to 170 c/ha – and essential oil content of about 3% (2.85–3.5%). The main components of the oil are linalyl acetate (32%) and linalool (48%), as well as a small amount of camphor. The essential oil has strong antibacterial, antiviral, wound-healing, and sedative properties, making it in demand in the perfume and cosmetic industry and medicine.
"RABAT" is drought-resistant, frost-resistant up to –26 °C, and pest-resistant. The plant grows well on dry or medium, alkaline soil with good drainage; with excessive moisture, stem and root rot may develop. It is propagated by cuttings, and pruning promotes longer flowering. Due to its resistance to diseases and pests, the variety is suitable for cultivation both in the garden and on the dacha, creating aromatic zones, improving the microclimate, and attracting bees.
