The 'Award' melon variety is a mid-early, extremely high-yielding, and drought-tolerant cantaloupe-type variety. From mass germination to the first harvest of fruits takes 65-74 days, while the fruiting period lasts about eight weeks, starting from early July. The plant forms a moderately trailing bush with flexible and sturdy stems, moderately foliated with small, dark green leaves. For optimal growth and fruiting, it is recommended to leave 2-3 ovaries on one stem, gradually removing excess lateral shoots. 'Award' melon fruits have a round shape, are weakly segmented, and are covered with a solid rough net. The weight of one fruit ranges from 2 to 2.5 kg. The flesh is characterized by a melting, juicy texture, a sweet, and very aromatic taste with a delicate sweet-tart aroma. Full fruit ripeness is determined by the easy separation of fruits from the bush and uniform coloration. Due to its taste qualities, the melon is ideal for fresh consumption and for preparing various fruit desserts. Additionally, the 'Award' variety is versatile and well-suited for processing. Jams, preserves, candied fruits, marinated, salted, pickled, and dried products are made from it. In some cases, the melon is even fried in batter, highlighting its culinary flexibility and unique taste properties.
