Kenavo

Kenavo watermelon (Nev0 F1) is an ultra-early hybrid of the pineapple type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Hazera. This variety is characterized by a short growing period — from seedling transplanting to harvest takes only 50-55 days, enabling early harvest for fresh market sale. The plant grows vigorously, producing 3-5 fruits even under adverse weather conditions, making it suitable for cultivation both as seedlings and direct sowing in open ground.

Kenavo watermelon fruits have an oval shape and a beautiful honey-golden rind with large light netting. The average fruit weight ranges from 1 to 3 kg, with a dense, firm, and slightly rough skin that ensures good transportability and short-term storage under cool conditions. The flesh is creamy-white, moderately dense, juicy, and has a rich honey-vanilla flavor due to high dry matter content (12-13%) and sugar content (about 13%).

The plant exhibits high resistance to root rot and powdery mildew, as well as dense foliage that protects fruits from sunburn. To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to follow planting norms — 8-10 thousand plants per hectare, use complex fertilizers, and maintain optimal soil moisture levels. Yield per hectare can reach 20 to 80 tons of high-quality produce, making Kenavo watermelon popular among farmers and in retail markets.
