Description
Phlox 'Nabat' is a powerful bushy perennial of domestic breeding, developed by E.A. Konstantinova in 1986. The bush is spreading, with erect and sturdy stems covered with simple ovate-lanceolate leaves. Staking may be required due to rapid growth. The height during flowering reaches 80–90 cm.
The flowers are large (up to 4 cm in diameter) carmine-red with a cinnabar tint; the petals are turned inward and form a characteristic corner. The inflorescence is compound-conical, large, and of medium density, making the plant particularly noticeable in landscape compositions. Flowering lasts from July to August; moreover, the flowers do not fade in the sun and look good in bright partial shade.
'Nabat' is resistant to cold and heat, but suffers from drought – the lower leaves yellow and wither. To maintain the plant's health, it is necessary to annually add fertile substrate to the base of the bush to cover the renewal buds, as well as to carry out preventive fungicide treatments to protect against fungal diseases. In autumn, the shoots are cut as low as possible to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks in the following season. The plant prefers fertile, loamy or sandy-loam soils with weak acidity to neutral and moisture without water stagnation.
'Nabat' is widely used in landscape design: as a separate element, in group plantings, along walls and fences, as well as in flowerbeds and floristic compositions. Thanks to the bright fragrant flowers and resistance to climatic conditions, this plant becomes a popular choice for creating picturesque garden ensembles.
