"Asturia" by AF "Ukrainske nasinnya" is a simple sunflower hybrid engineered for consistent yields under intensive farming conditions. The key technical advantage of this hybrid is its genetic resistance to imidazolinone herbicides (Clearfield/"Euro-Lightning" system). This solution allows agronomists to effectively manage a broad spectrum of dicotyledonous and grassy weeds, as well as control all races of broomrape directly during the growing season without phytotoxic stress on the crop.

Adaptability and phytosanitary barrier

With a vegetation period of 100–110 days, "Asturia" is classified as a mid-early hybrid, allowing for flexible harvest scheduling. The hybrid’s design ensures high field resistance to pathogens:

• Fungicidal profile: A high threshold of resistance to a complex of dangerous diseases, including alternaria, rust, phomopsis, phoma, and powdery mildew, which significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide applications.
• Immunity to pests and mycoses: Genetic resistance to downy mildew and the sunflower moth minimizes the risk of mechanical damage to heads and roots, which is critical for maintaining crop integrity before threshing.

Morphology and oil content

The plant reaches a height of 160–180 cm, and coupled with a robust root system, it ensures efficient uptake of moisture and nutrients from deep soil layers. An oil content of 45–50% makes this hybrid highly attractive for the processing sector, enabling a high output of marketable product per hectare. The uniformity of the crop simplifies combine header calibration, minimizing seed loss at higher harvesting speeds.
