Description
Bosfora sunflower hybrid is a medium-early extensive variety recommended for cultivation in the Southern Steppe region of Ukraine. It is characterized by high drought and heat tolerance, ensuring stable and high yields even under insufficient moisture conditions. The maturity period is approximately 108 days, allowing for effective planning of agronomic activities. Seeds are black, medium to large-sized, treated with the fungicide and insecticide Cruiser for protection against diseases and pests.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to diseases, including Phomopsis and sclerotinia, as well as to six strains of Sclerotinia and new strains of downy mildew (A-F). Oil content of the seeds is approximately 48-49%, ensuring good oil yield during processing. Yield potential reaches 5.5 tons per hectare, with yields varying from 19 to 26 centners per hectare in dry areas, and up to 33-36 centners per hectare in more humid conditions.
The Bosfora hybrid does not require high soil types or mineral fertilizer levels, but poorly responds to dense planting, which should be considered during agronomic planning. Due to its characteristics, it is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve stable and high sunflower yields under challenging climatic conditions of the Southern Steppe.
