Canyon

Canyon sunflower is a simple hybrid with a vegetation period of 102 to 107 days, developed by the Institute of Water and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia) and produced by the AF 'Sady Ukrainy' in Ukraine. This hybrid is characterized by high yield, reaching over 50 centners per hectare, making it one of the leaders in its maturity group. Plant height under adequate moisture varies from 140 to 170 cm, and growth intensity during the initial vegetative stage is above average, promoting rapid development and crop formation.

Canyon exhibits high resistance to common races of downy mildew, as well as to many other pathogens and pests, significantly reducing the risk of crop loss. The sunflower leaves number 26-28, the stem is of medium thickness, and the flower head is slender with a huskiness of 22-24%. The high oil content in the seeds, reaching 48-50%, makes this hybrid especially valuable for oilseed production.

The recommended plant density at harvest time depends on the growing region: in the forest-steppe zone — 52-56 thousand plants per hectare, in the central steppe — 48-52 thousand, and in the southern and dry steppe — 44-48 thousand. Due to its adaptability to various climatic conditions and high agronomic performance, Canyon sunflower is an optimal choice for cultivation in Ukraine.
