Description
Sunflower Colombi is an early-maturing, high-oleic hybrid developed by Syngenta, characterized by rapid early growth and high yield potential, especially under drought conditions. This hybrid has a high content of oleic acid — up to 90% — making it particularly valuable for producing high-quality oil. Colombi belongs to the mid-early maturity group and exhibits an extensive type of adaptability, ensuring stable yields under challenging climatic conditions.
The Colombi hybrid is recommended for cultivation in Ukraine's steppe zone, including Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Odesa regions. It is well-adapted to minimal (Mini-till) and zero (No-till) soil preparation technologies, enabling effective use of modern agronomic methods. Seeds are treated with the fungicide and insecticide Cruiser, providing protection for plants in early development stages. The recommended planting density at harvest time is 35–40 thousand plants per hectare.
Colombi has high drought and downy mildew (classes A–G) resistance, as well as good disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with high infection risk. The hybrid is also compatible with Clearfield technology and herbicide Evolight, expanding weed control options. Thanks to its unique characteristics and adaptability, sunflower Colombi is an effective solution for achieving high and stable yields in southern regions of Ukraine.
