Field Experience with EDM 724 Sunflower

When selecting a sunflower hybrid, we look for consistent performance and a simplified maintenance schedule. The EDM 724, produced by Ooo Aktiv Agro, fits this need perfectly, especially for those using the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) system. This technology allows us to manage weeds and broomrape with a single herbicide application, which is a major advantage during the busy growing season.

Agronomic Performance

The EDM 724 features a growing period of 105–110 days, making it a reliable choice for regions with moderate climate conditions. With a plant height of 160–180 cm, the stalks are sturdy and resistant to lodging, which allows our combine harvesters to operate efficiently even in windy conditions. The heads are large and well-filled with solid black seeds.

Yield and Oil Content

We have found that the oil content consistently stays between 48–52%, which is a strong competitive figure. The hybrid is quite responsive to standard fertilization programs, making it easy to manage for both small and large-scale operations. When harvesting, we noted minimal seed loss, which is critical for maximizing final profit.
