Description
ES CEYLON SU is a high-yielding linoleic sunflower hybrid developed by Euralis for cultivation using the EXPRESS® technology. It belongs to the moderately intensive type with medium-early maturity, ensuring a stable and early harvest. The total vegetation period ranges from 106 to 112 days, with the period from emergence to flowering lasting approximately 66–70 days. Plants reach a height of 175–185 cm, and the flower head diameter is 22–24 cm with a characteristic semi-angled position. Oil content in seeds ranges from 49–51%, making the hybrid attractive for oil production.
The hybrid features strong early development and high growth energy, contributing to successful adaptation and rapid vegetative start. ES CEYLON SU exhibits high drought resistance and is not prone to lodging, enabling cultivation in various climatic conditions, including arid regions. Recommended cultivation zones include steppes, forest-steppe, and meadows, with optimal seeding density ranging from 50,000 to 60,000 plants per hectare depending on soil moisture levels.
A key advantage of the hybrid is its genetic resistance to downy mildew, including the seven main strains (A–G) and new parasite forms, as well as high comprehensive tolerance to major sunflower diseases such as phomopsis, false powdery mildew, stem and head rot, rust, and verticillium. Thanks to these qualities, ES CEYLON SU ensures reliable crop protection and high productivity, confirmed by yields ranging from 38.1–46.5 c/ha across various regions.
