Description
Hector sunflower is a mid-early hybrid with a vegetation period of about 106 days. The plant reaches a height of 170 cm and forms large flower heads up to 20 cm in diameter with a strongly convex shape. Seeds contain up to 49.1% oil, predominantly oleic type, with a high content of oleic acid glycerides — up to 79%. Thanks to these characteristics, the oil has high quality and is valued for its beneficial properties.
The Hector hybrid is characterized by high resistance to stress factors and diseases such as downy mildew, seed shattering, stem lodging, and false powdery mildew. The yield potential of this crop reaches 42 centners per hectare, making it attractive for cultivation in the Ukrainian Steppe and Forest-Steppe regions. Seeds have good germination — 90-95% — ensuring reliable and uniform emergence.
To achieve maximum yield and optimal oil content, proper plant stand density before harvest is essential. For the Hector hybrid, it is recommended to maintain a density between 45,000 and 70,000 plants per hectare, with an optimal density of about 55,000 plants per hectare. Seeding rate depends on the region and may vary: for example, a seeding unit of 150,000 seeds is designed for 2-3 hectares depending on the seeding rate, allowing flexible adaptation of planting to specific growing conditions.
