Khutorok

The Khutorok sunflower variety is a medium-early, large-seeded confectionery type intended for classical cultivation technology. Plants are tall, reaching 170-180 cm in height, do not branch, and have medium-sized green leaves with slight blistering and strong pubescence in the upper part of the stem. The flowers are characterized by narrow egg-shaped ligulate orange-yellow petals and orange tubular flowers without anthocyanin coloration of the stigma. The basket is large, facing downward with a curved stem; seeds are large, wide ovate, mostly black with slightly or no stripes.

Khutorok is distinguished by its high yield potential and resistance to major sunflower diseases such as verticillium wilt, alternariosis, rust, and downy mildew (races A-E). The growing period lasts 98-100 days, making it suitable for use in various climatic zones including the Central Black Earth Region, North Caucasus, Middle Volga Region, Lower Volga Region, and Ural regions. Average yield reaches 18.6 c/ha in the North Caucasus region and up to 33.7 c/ha under favorable conditions in Krasnodar and Saratov regions. The mass fraction of pure kernel is 57.6%, and the breakage ratio is 0.80.

The seeds of the Khutorok variety have a high oil content, averaging 38.7-40.2%, providing up to 7.4 c/ha of oil yield. The weight of 1000 seeds varies from 150 to 160 grams. Due to its characteristics, this variety is widely used in the confectionery industry. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to ensure plants have good lighting and sufficient soil moisture, which promotes stable yields.
