LG5550 — mid-early hybrid sunflower from the company Limagrain, an improved version of the well-known hybrid Megasan. Plants reach a height of up to 135-140 cm, and the flower head diameter is about 15-15.5 cm. The average 1000-seed weight is 72 g, and the seed count per planting unit reaches 150,000 seeds. The hybrid is characterized by high oil content in the seeds — from 49-50% to 52%, depending on growing conditions, planting density, and mineral nutrition.

LG5550 exhibits high resistance to downy mildew, including races A-F and new races A-G, as well as tolerance to false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, white mold, rust, and sclerotinia. Additionally, the hybrid shows high tolerance to drought and heat stress, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions, including steppe and forest-steppe zones.

The LG5550 hybrid is recommended for all sunflower-growing regions provided optimal planting density is maintained, especially at harvest time.
