The NS-H-6044 hybrid sunflower is an early-maturing variety of the new generation, developed by Serbian breeders and adapted for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. The vegetation period is 95-98 days, allowing its use as a post-harvest crop. Plants have a low stature — from 135 to 160 cm — which promotes rational use of nutrients and ensures resistance to lodging and shattering. The head diameter ranges from 21 to 25 cm, with a convex shape, which contributes to forming a full yield.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including false powdery mildew, froge, fomosis, white rot, and rust. It also shows tolerance to pests, particularly sunflower moth. These qualities make it a reliable choice for oil production under various climatic conditions, including short dry periods.
The hybrid’s yield potential exceeds 40 centners per hectare, with oil content in seeds ranging from 46-55%, ensuring high oil productivity. Recommended seeding rates depend on the cultivation zone: 40-45 thousand seeds per hectare in southern steppes, and 60-65 thousand in forest-steppe regions.
