Description
Sunflower NS Konstantin OR — a mid-season Serbian hybrid developed by the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crop Research in Novi Sad. It is characterized by high plasticity and drought tolerance, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, including forest-steppe, central, and southern steppes. The hybrid has a strong root system that ensures adaptation to arid regions and stable productivity.
NS Konstantin OR features high yield potential, reaching up to 5.5 tons per hectare, with oil content in seeds of 48–50%, making it profitable for oil and oil-based product production. Plants reach a height of 160–180 cm and have 28–30 leaves; the 1000-seed mass ranges from 55 to 70 grams. Sowing density is recommended depending on the cultivation zone: 45 to 60 thousand plants per hectare.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including downy mildew (Phytophthora) races A–G, false powdery mildew, rust, froge, phomopsis, phomosis, alternaria, as well as pests such as the sunflower moth and sunflower beetle, with resistance ratings of 7–9. Suitable for conventional cultivation and Clearfield (Clear Field) technology, ensuring reliable and stable yields under various agroclimatic conditions.
