Description
The OLYMP hybrid sunflower is a mid-early high-oleic variety with improved oil quality, containing more than 85% oleic acid. This ensures high resistance of the oil to oxidation even under unfavorable harvesting and storage conditions. The hybrid is characterized by a high fat content of about 45.9%, which allows for an average oil yield of up to 10.2 c/ha, while the productivity potential reaches over 40 c/ha. The plant height is 160–170 cm, and branching is absent, which facilitates agricultural operations.
The plant has a medium-sized, semi-turned head with a curved stem, medium-sized seeds of narrow egg shape with a black main color and distinct gray stripes. The leaves are of medium size, green in color, with moderate blistering and serration. Flowering occurs at medium maturity; ray florets are yellow, and tubular florets are orange with anthocyanin pigmentation of the style. The hybrid possesses genetic resistance to downy mildew (DM), as well as moderate resistance to Helminthosporium and white mold, enhancing its adaptability and reliability in various agro-climatic conditions.
OLYMP is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus, Central Black Earth, Lower Volga, Middle Volga, and Ural regions. Thanks to its characteristics, it is a standard among high-oleic hybrids, combining high yield, improved oil quality, and disease resistance. This makes it a profitable choice for producers focused on obtaining high-quality sunflower oil and stable yields.
