Olympic

Olympic is a mid-early sunflower hybrid characterized by high productivity potential and improved oil quality. The plant reaches a height of 160–170 cm, has a medium-sized head, and seeds of medium size with black coloration and distinct gray stripes. The hybrid is characterized by the absence of branching, medium leaf pubescence, and narrowly ovate yellow ray florets. The head is semi-downward curved with a curved stem, facilitating harvesting.

The main advantage of the Olympic hybrid is its high oleic acid content in the oil — over 85% — which significantly improves its quality. The oil is less susceptible to oxidation even under unfavorable harvesting and storage conditions, ensuring product stability and longevity. Oil content in the seeds is 50–52%, and fat content reaches 45.9%, ensuring a high average oil yield — around 10.2 centners per hectare. The hybrid's yield potential reaches 40 centners per hectare, with maximum yields in some regions reaching 34 centners per hectare and higher.

The Olympic hybrid is recommended for cultivation in regions such as the North Caucasus, Central Chernozem, Lower Volga, Middle Volga, and Ural. It exhibits genetic resistance to false powdery mildew (FPM), as well as moderate resistance to downy mildew and white rot, making it a reliable choice for intensive agriculture. Olympic has been recognized by state authorities as a standard for high-oleic hybrids and is widely used in agricultural practice due to its high technological and agronomic characteristics.
