Orlan

ORLAN is an early-maturing oilseed sunflower variety intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region. The plant is of medium height (170-190 cm), unbranched, with medium-sized heart-shaped leaves. The inflorescence is of medium size; upon ripening, it turns downward, and the seeds have an oval-oblong shape with a primary black coloration and weak grey stripes along the edges. The vegetation period until harvest maturity ranges from 86 to 115 days, allowing for an early harvest.

The variety is characterized by high oil content in the seeds—averaging 51-54%, with a fat content of about 52.2%. Additionally, the seed kernel contains 16-18% protein, while the hull makes up 20-22%. ORLAN is resistant to various diseases, including downy mildew, Helminthosporium, sunflower moth, Phoma, rust, dry rot, and verticillium wilt. The variety also demonstrates good resistance to soil and air drought and is a good nectar source.

Seed yield can reach 2.6-3.8 tons per hectare, corresponding to 26-32 centners per hectare. The recommended plant density at harvest is 35-60 thousand per hectare, depending on growing conditions. Due to its high oil content, disease resistance, and adaptability to climatic conditions, the ORLAN variety is a profitable choice for oilseed production.
