Description
Sunflower PC-05 is a new variety with a vegetative period of approximately 98-100 days, making it a mid-season plant. This variety is characterized by large seeds, with the mass of 1000 seeds reaching up to 162 grams in some years, which meets market requirements for seed size. PC-05 occupies an intermediate position between oilseed and forage sunflowers, expanding its application possibilities in agriculture. The variety was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements and recommended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth region.
The PC-05 sunflower hybrid exhibits resistance to seed shattering, which contributes to yield preservation. It demonstrates moderate resistance to diseases such as white mold and powdery mildew, enhancing cultivation reliability. The average yield in the Central Black Earth region is approximately 32.5 centners per hectare. For successful cultivation, choosing suitable regions is important, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions.
Sunflower PC-05, like other varieties of this plant, requires certain conditions for optimal growth. It prefers easily warming soils, a long vegetative period with high temperatures and sufficient moisture during flowering. An important aspect is proper fertilization, especially with phosphorus and potassium, considering soil needs and avoiding chlorine-containing forms on light soils. Sufficient magnesium and boron supply is also necessary for full plant development. Thanks to hybrid breeding, PC-05 possesses enhanced drought and disease resistance, making it promising for cultivation in various agro-climatic conditions.
