Description
Sunflower variety Samanta is a simple hybrid included in the State Register for the Central Chernozem, Middle Volga, and Lower Volga regions of Russia. Medium-height plant, non-branching, with medium-sized heart-shaped leaves and strong reticulation. Flowers are yellow tubular, with weak or absent anthocyanin pigmentation in the corolla tube. The head is medium-sized, half-tilted downward, with a flat seed side. Seeds are broadly oval, black with gray marginal stripes. Oil content in the seeds reaches 54.6%, ensuring high oil productivity.
Hybrid Samanta is characterized by early maturity and high yield, exceeding regional averages: 23.5 centners/ha in the Central Chernozem region, 21.1 centners/ha in the Middle Volga region, and 18.3 centners/ha in the Lower Volga region. The highest yield recorded in Belgorod Oblast was 33.6 centners/ha. According to the developer, the variety is resistant to rust and false powdery mildew (race 1), but susceptible to downy mildew.
Samanta is suitable for cultivation in regions with moderate climates, where it demonstrates stable productivity and quality. Due to its high oil content and resistance to major diseases, this sunflower is a profitable choice for agricultural enterprises focused on obtaining high-quality, high-yield raw material for processing.
