WALLABY sunflower is an early-maturing hybrid developed by the French company LABOULET, adapted for cultivation in various regions, including the forest-steppe. The vegetative period ranges from 97 to 119 days, with flowering beginning around day 72. Plants reach a height of approximately 158 cm and are characterized by high initial growth rates, promoting rapid crop development.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring yield retention and facilitating harvest. WALLABY has good resistance to major sunflower diseases, such as sclerotinia, downy mildew, phomopsis, and rust, including resistance to rust strains A-F and rust strains A-E. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to herbicides of the imidazolinone group, enabling effective weed control without harming the crop.
The yield potential of WALLABY sunflower reaches 5.0 tons per hectare at the recommended planting density of 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare. The oil content of the seeds is 51–52%, ensuring high vegetable oil output. These characteristics make WALLABY an attractive choice for conventional sunflower cultivation aimed at producing high-quality, high-yield raw material.
