Description
Halina is a compact variety of sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus nanus), characterized by its low growth of 60–80 cm and a dense, yet not bulky form. The plant develops 8–10 main stems with dark green leaves, giving it a rich appearance. Thanks to its compactness, Halina is ideal for vertical greening, planting in beds under support, or as a decorative element on lawns.
Flowering of this variety begins as early as June 10 and lasts about 75 days, covering the period from mid-summer to early autumn. Each flowering stalk bears 4–5 bright pink-white flowers, and the total number of inflorescences on the plant can reach up to 385. The flowers have a sail width of about 3.4 cm and a keel length of approximately 3.5 cm, while possessing a strong aroma that fills the garden with a pleasant freshness.
Care for Halina is simple: seeds can be sown in open ground in May according to a 70×35 cm scheme after pre-soaking. Planting depth is 6–8 cm. The plant prefers drained, fertile soils and sunny locations. Regular watering and spring fertilization promote good branching and abundant flowering. If necessary, the plant can be pinched to improve the bush structure. Propagation is done by dividing the overgrown bush, which allows quickly replenishing the garden planting.
