Description
Tulip Lefebvre Favorite, also known as Red Emperor, is one of the most popular and recognizable varieties of the Foster group. This mid-season tulip was bred at the beginning of the 20th century and remains highly popular among gardeners due to its vibrant color and elegant flower shape. The buds have a elongated shape with a bell-shaped corolla of bright red color and a dark center, which is complemented by a yellowish center, light-purple stamens, and yellowish-green filaments when blooming. The flower height reaches about 7 cm, while the plant height is 35-40 cm. The stems are hairy, with a dark upper part, and the leaves are broad and gray-green. The blooming period lasts from 9 to 16 days, making this variety an excellent choice for prolonged decorative effect.
Lefebvre Favorite is perfect for creating borders, planting in flower beds and containers, and pairs beautifully with early-blooming bulbous plants and violets. It looks especially striking when combined with the Golden Emperor variety with yellow flowers. It is recommended to plant bulbs in groups of 5 or more at a depth of 15 cm with a spacing of about 10 cm between them. Due to its high decorative value and sturdy stem, this tulip is ideal for cutting, maintaining its flower shape for a long time.
Moreover, the variety is low-maintenance, making it suitable even for novice gardeners. For uniform stems and synchronized blooming, it is recommended to use large bulbs, especially for forcing blooms for holidays such as March 8. Lefebvre Favorite can be used not only to decorate gardens and flower beds, but also to create luxurious bouquets, as well as for planting in gift pots and small presents.
