Description
The "Obeyna" variety is a mid-season vetch (Vicia sativa L.) with a spring-sown form, designed for intensive cultivation. Plants reach a height of 105–110 cm, have medium-width green leaves and an oval-elongated shape, while stems are green in color. Flowers are purple, and the peduncle is green.
The pods of the variety are characterized by a shattering (primary) type with a strong parchment layer and weak fuzziness; each node typically has 6–10 seeds. Seeds are of medium size, round in shape, covered with sharp brown ornamentation, and the aleurone layers are grayish-brown. The vegetative period is approximately 84 days.
The yield of "Obeyna" in the Central Black Earth region reaches 60.7 c/ha (average) and can reach up to 101.4 c/ha under optimal conditions. The maximum seed yield recorded was 10.14 t/ha. The variety is suitable for intensive cultivation technology; harvesting is carried out using pod harvesters.
The variety was created through individual selection from a hybrid population ((M-349–84 × Bruna) × Brun) and belongs to the *typica* type. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central Black Earth, Mid-Volga, and West Siberian regions. Due to its high seed yield and stable productivity, "Obeyna" is a valuable choice for farmers seeking maximum returns from arable land.
