Baron

The "Baron" variety – an early-maturing biennial salad chicory, belonging to the Cichorium intybus var. foliosum L. subtype. It features a vertical rosette of leaves with a diameter of 32–40 cm and large widely lanceolate leaves with a finely serrated edge, covered with a waxy coating. The leaves have a tender texture and sweet taste, making them ideal both fresh and in prepared salads.

The root crop of the "Baron" variety has a conical shape, small size – diameter 2–3 cm, height about 5 cm, mass 40–50 g. The period from germination to technical maturity of root crops is 110–120 days, while the forcing period is 20–25 days. The yield of marketable heads reaches 10 kg/sq.m., making it attractive for personal subsidiary holdings and home kitchens.
