Mountain Juniper Fischt (Juniperus scopulorum ‘Fischt’) – a perennial coniferous shrub growing up to 10 m tall with a crown diameter of up to 2.5 m, characterized by a dense pyramidal crown of green-blue hue. The foliage consists of scale-like needles up to 12 mm long, and the blue berry-cones ripen only by the end of the second year after planting.

The plant is distinguished by high resistance to climatic stresses: it tolerates frost (USDA zone 4), drought and heat, as well as urban conditions well. It does not require strict soil conditions – prefers well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral loamy soil, but can also grow on more fertile soils. A young bush needs an open sunny spot; if necessary, temporary shading can be provided in the first few weeks after planting.

Care for Fischt is simple: regular watering during the hot season (three times per season, additional watering during drought), moderate fertilization with nitrogen and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers in late spring, soil loosening and mulching to retain moisture. Pruning is carried out in spring and autumn, removing damaged branches and forming a conical shape. If necessary, the crown can be tied in the first year after planting to protect against snow.

Fischt is widely used as a living fence, in single compositions and group ensembles thanks to its unpretentiousness and ability to maintain a strict pyramidal shape without frequent pruning. Thanks to resistance to rust and scale, as well as possible preventive treatment with fungicides, the plant remains decorative and healthy for decades.
