The 'Smel' zucchini variety is an early-ripening, high-yielding hybrid intended for cultivation in open ground and film greenhouses. The period from germination to the beginning of fruiting is about 48-50 days, allowing for harvest in a short time. The plants are bush-type, compact, and tolerate brief drops in temperature well, making them resistant to adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the variety has high resistance to viral diseases such as zucchini yellow mosaic and watermelon mosaic, which contributes to a stable and quality harvest. The 'Smel' zucchini fruits have an elliptical or cylindrical shape, ranging from 12 to 18 cm in length and 0.4 to 1.6 kg in weight. The skin is thin, the flesh is dense, light green in color, and is distinguished by excellent taste and high vitamin content. Thanks to these qualities, the fruits are suitable for various culinary preparations, including zucchini caviar and various winter preserves. Zucchini are well preserved after harvesting and have good transportability, making them convenient for distribution and long-term storage. Growing the 'Smel' variety is possible both by direct sowing of seeds into open ground and by seedling method. When sowing in soil, it is recommended to plant 2-3 seeds per hole followed by thinning to one plant. Seedlings are planted after the threat of frost when they are 20-30 days old. For successful growth and fruiting, plants require timely watering, weeding, loosening, and fertilizing. Regular fruit harvesting stimulates further fruiting, ensuring a high and stable yield.
