Umka

Zucchini Umka — an early-maturing, high-yielding variety with white skin and cylindrical fruits up to 20 cm long. The weight of ripe zucchinis ranges from 0.5 to 1.5 kg, while the flesh is characterized by a light color, density, and tenderness, with a high vitamin content. Thanks to its taste qualities, this variety is excellent for preparing dietary dishes and is popular among gardeners and summer residents.

The plant is bush or trailing, differs in cold hardiness, and is adapted to most climate zones of Russia. The period from seedling emergence to the first harvest is about 40-45 days. For planting, it is recommended to use light, fertile soils with a neutral reaction, avoiding acidic soils. The best predecessors are early vegetables, onions, root crops, tomatoes, and potatoes. Before planting, the site is dug up and fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers, and if necessary, liming is carried out.

Growing is possible both by direct sowing of seeds in open ground and by seedling method. Seeds are sown in holes of 2-3 pieces each with a distance of at least 60 cm; after seedling emergence, thinning is carried out, leaving one strong plant. Successful growth requires regular watering, loosening, weeding, and feeding. Fruits are harvested regularly with an interval of 2-3 days to avoid overripening and stimulate further fruiting. The yield of the variety reaches 8-10 kg per square meter.
