It is a highly destructive soil-borne plant pathogen known for attacking a variety of woody plant species in both natural forests and nurseries.
Diseases and host crops: This pathogen is primarily responsible for bleeding cankers on the trunks of trees and root rot infections. The most significant host plants include European beech (Fagus sylvatica) and various species of oak (Quercus spp.). Infection typically manifests as necrotic lesions on the lower stem, leading to girdling, vascular system disruption, leaf chlorosis, crown dieback, and eventually the death of the affected tree.
