Acholla (lat. Acholla) is a genus of insects belonging to the Reduviidae family, commonly known as assassin bugs. While generally recognized as predators, their role in agricultural settings can be problematic, as they often target beneficial insects or cause indirect damage to plant tissue during their hunting activities in orchard and field ecosystems.
These insects primarily inhabit woody plants, shrubs, and ornamental gardens. They are ambush predators that wait for their prey on the undersides of leaves or within the complex structures of blossoms. Their presence is often difficult to detect until the population density increases to a level where their hunting behavior begins to impact the health of the host plant.
