Systematic position: The Archer's dart (Agrotis vestigialis) belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Noctuidae. It is a well-known species within the subfamily Noctuinae, typically found in habitats with sandy or light soils where larvae thrive due to favorable soil moisture and texture.

Host crops: The larvae of this moth, commonly referred to as cutworms, are polyphagous. They feed on a wide variety of agricultural crops, including winter cereals (rye, wheat), sugar beets, potatoes, maize, and various horticultural crops. They also sustain themselves on wild grasses and common weeds found in agricultural landscapes.
